New Utility Services

To open a new utility services account you must provide the following:

- A completed Application for Utility Services.

- Two forms of identification as follows: Driver's License, Military ID card, State ID card, Mexican ID card, Passport, or Alien Registration Card and Social Security Card (an IRS taxpayer ID Card may be used)


* Please be aware that the City's policy for turning on or reconnecting utility service is within one business day from the time that full payment has been received.*


You may fax the completed application, along with a copy of your closing document or lease agreement, driver's license, and social security information to 305-224-4839.

Property Owners

Proof of ownership such as:

- A copy of the Warrantee Deed or Settlement Statement (Purchase Contract will not be accepted)

Note: If this is a newly constructed home, all final inspections must have been completed, and must have been issued a Certificate of Occupancy.

Renters

A copy of the lease that includes:

- The landlord's name, address, and telephone number.

- A rent receipt will not be accepted as proof of rental.

Deposit Policy:

Deposits may be required to establish utility services. The amount is determined by credit rating. Deposits must be paid at the time the account is opened.

Note: Only one credit check is done per household

Transferring Services:

To transfer an existing utility account to a new location the following is required: - A completed Application For Utility Service

- A copy of your new lease, or proof of ownership

- Payment of the current balance due on the existing utility account

- Payment of an account transfer fee

- If additional services are added, an additional deposit will be required

Note: A final reading will be taken on the existing account and the amount due for the previous address will be added to your new account. If a deposit remains on the existing account, it will be credited to the new account.

 

Temporary Services

Temporary accounts are available to property owners for 30 days or less. All of the services that are available at the location will be activated. A connection fee is required and a bill will be issued for the base fees and the electric and/ or water consumption used. If services are needed for more than 30 days, then the account holder will need to open a permanent account. For more information, please email CustomerService@cityofhomestead.com
